Dr. Marie D. Quartararo is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist who is fellowship-trained in Pediatric anesthesia. Dr. Quartararo, who was raised in New York, joined Columbia Anesthesia Associates in 2003. She conducted her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University earning her BA in Biology. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1988, Highest College honors with a distinction in Research and was awarded the Bessie Dolan Basic Science Award. In 1992, she received her MD degree at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. In 1996, she completed her Anesthesiology and Critical Care Residency training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. During her final year of residency training at Thomas Jefferson, she completed mini-fellowships in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and Ambulatory Anesthesia. She was also appointed Chief Resident and was awarded the Robert Dripps Award for Outstanding Graduating Anesthesia Resident. She completed fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at the world renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia / Hospital of University of Pennsylvania in 1997 and remained as an Assistant Professor at CHOP for the following year.

From there, Dr. Quartararo served as an Assistant Professor at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and the University of Maryland-Kernan Hospital where the majority of the surgical cases were orthopedic surgical cases and/or pediatric cases. While there, she was actively involved in teaching anesthesiology residents with the focus in pediatric anesthesia as well as regional blockade for surgical procedures. From the administrative standpoint, she served as a member of the Anesthesia Executive Committee as well as the Quality Assurance Committee.

In 2000, Dr. Quartararo returned to New Jersey and committed herself to the practice of ambulatory anesthesia. She was the Ambulatory Pediatric Anesthesiologist at the Atlanticare Surgical Center in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. In addition, her expertise in regional blockade wins the hearts of patients and surgeons.

This can only be done by consistently providing a safe and effective anesthetic with attention to detail,’’ she states. “The safety and comfort of each patient is of paramount importance from the preoperative to the postoperative period.”

In her free time, Dr. Quartararo enjoys nothing more than spending time with her family. She resides in Wyckoff, NJ with her husband, Louis, and three children.
